FAQ
Good questions. Clear answers.
The essentials before you book, arrive, and heal your tattoo.
How much will my tattoo cost?
Pricing depends on the artist, size, placement, detail, and session length. Send your idea through the booking form and we will guide you before anything is confirmed.
Is it painful?
Yes, but in the best possible way. Your body releases endorphins during pain, which can create a sense of euphoria. Tattooing does involve discomfort, but many people describe it as feeling like a scratch.
Shading is often described as relaxing, and some clients even fall asleep during this process. Linework and colour packing can feel more intense due to differences in machine settings, but most clients tolerate it well.
Sensitivity varies from person to person. If you are concerned, talk to us before your appointment.
I have a health condition. Can I still get a tattoo?
Please review our eligibility guidance before booking. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, contact us directly to discuss your situation and make sure the treatment is safe for you.
How can I prepare for my tattoo treatment?
Visit the How to Prepare page for detailed preparation tips. There is no need to shave beforehand unless it is part of your regular routine. Our artists will handle that before applying the stencil.
Eat a good meal before your appointment, stay hydrated, and try to rest so you arrive calm and relaxed. If you feel lightheaded, sugary drinks like soda can help.
Avoid drinking alcohol the night before your appointment, as it can increase bleeding and affect ink retention. Your hair will grow back normally after the tattooing process.
Do I need to leave a deposit to book an appointment?
Yes. A deposit is required to secure your appointment: £50 for small treatments and £100 for longer sessions.
Deposits are non-refundable and will be applied toward the final price of your tattoo.
We require at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule an appointment. Rescheduling is permitted once, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Kami Tattoo Arts reserves the right to adjust appointment dates on short notice.
How can I make payments?
All payments are due upon completion of your tattoo session. We accept cash or bank transfer. For deposit, rescheduling and cancellation policies, please see our Terms and Conditions.
Where can I park?
We offer free parking. A 24-hour free car park is located behind the pub across the street from the studio.
You may also park on surrounding streets, which are free of charge. Refer to our parking map for detailed directions.
Can I use numbing cream?
We do not allow numbing creams. They can negatively affect tattoo quality and ink absorption, and their effects can wear off quickly, often making the experience more painful afterwards.
Numbing creams may also cause redness or swelling, which may require us to stop the session. If you have concerns about pain, discuss them with us before your appointment.
What should I bring and how should I prepare?
For detailed preparation steps, check the How to Prepare page.
Eat well and drink water before your appointment. Avoid heavy physical activity, sun exposure or alcohol before your session.
If it is a hot day, avoid spending hours outside without proper hydration. An empty stomach and dehydration are the fastest routes to feeling faint during a session.
Stay calm. You are in skilled hands. There is nothing to stress over; it is just a tattoo.
How do I care for it after?
Keep it clean, avoid soaking, sun, scratching and picking, and follow the aftercare instructions your artist gives you at the end of the appointment.
